Who am I? Well, I am so happy you asked.

My name is Lisa. Many know me as freelisa in the community. And depending on where you know me from, I might be Lisa Walter or Lisa Lindholm- but I’m always Lisa. I’m always freelisa.

A little background on me:

For some reason I studied Computer Science in college although I knew all along I wanted to be an artist. I held my own amongst the nerds, and made a very good nerd. (I am still very much a nerd.) I worked for some big name corporations where I fostered my nerdiness from the comfort of a cubicle, whilst plotting my “but i wanna be an artist” escape. In November 2001 I bought canvas and paint, and began to actually use them. Although I continued to be a nerd in public, in private I pursued artiness.

Today, I am a full-time artist. I have been for over 1.5 years now

I am fully immersed in the Dallas art scene – showing in many local galleries. I also have had a heavy hand in organizing and promoting art shows and indie craft events. In addition to painting, I also run a small eco- conscience screen printing shop, specializing in organic cotton t-shirts featuring my own designs.

I like to make things. I like to help others create things, too.

My Side-Kick

His name is Johnny Hardy, although many in the community know him as Machismo Foghat the Crotch Machine for his fantastic on-stage dancing abilities.

Johnny has been a staple in the Dallas music scene for several years. He has made a name for himself through his bands and through his involvement in organizing music and art events in Dallas’ famous Deep Ellum. Most recently, Johnny has been most successful with Holy Diver, an all-miniature-instrument-not-a-dio-tribute-band original cover band, gaining a nomination for the 2008 Dallas Observer Music Awards.

He is truly a sight to be seen.

The two of us are purely dedicated to bringing Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School to Dallas.

Between the two of us, we have quite a community of resources to dig into to help make Dr. Sketchy Dallas a success. One worth mentioning here is the lovely Julie Kim. She has single-handedly brought the Indie Craft movement in Dallas to a whole new level through the launch of her shop Make, her seasonal street fair The Urban Street Bazaar, and the bi-yearly PIN Show (an indie designer runway event). This woman is an event planning and marketing genius, and I am honored to have her as a close pal. She is already willing and ready to serve as a consultant of sorts when it comes to launching, marketing, and putting on a Dallas Dr. Sketchy’s. With her on my team (amongst many other talents), I have no doubt it will be a success!
